Western Front Witness is a Scottish company run by Jim Harkness which specialises in the Great War.
Jim is a former History teacher and for 20 years he was history consultant for a leading schools travel company in which role he helped party leaders enhance the educational impact of their battlefield tours. This involved the preparation of bespoke commentary notes featuring stories about local battalions, V.C. winners and etc. He also provided to party members (on request) details of the last action of relatives who were killed on the Western Front. We contacted Jim as part of our project to find out more about the Gordon Highlanders and some of the soldiers we wanted to find more about. Jim’s reasearch was used to create informative wall displays for visitors to our exibition. We have archived the research at the links below. You are welcome to download these but please give credit to Jim if you use his research in your own projects.
