Welcome to Aberdeen and the Great War. This blog is an archive of the work carried out by staff and pupils at St Machar Academy Aberdeen to explore the experiences of people from Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland as part of the 100 years commemoration of the Great War. With the help of the National Lottery Heritage Fund we were able to uncover a great deal of information and share it with the local community during a public exhibition held last November. Our aim is to make the materials from the exhibition available here for anyone else with an intereste in finding out more about Aberdeen’s part in the war and over the next few weeks we’ll be uploading as much as we can. In the meantime, here is a short video showing some of the highlights of the exhibition.
